knit/lab/nine lives

A warm crescent-shaped shawl inspired by an image of an Indian dancer on the cover of Nine Lives by William Dalrymple. The knitting starts with one stitch and combines lace, stranding and beading - a good opportunity to experiment with rich color combinations!

 

Knit on 3.25mm/US3 needles with Rowan Pure Wool 4Ply:

3 balls, 522yds/480m of 436 red, approximately 120yds/105m of 456 purple, 40yds/35m of 454 yellow & 40yds/35m of 443 very pale pink.

425 size 6/0 silver glass beads are added using a 1mm crochet hook.

 

Finished dimensions: 40ins/102cm across, 19ins/48cm at center back
