knit/lab/terms & conditions of use
These Terms and Conditions may be downloaded here as a printable pdf for future reference.
Payments
Payments are processed through PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you do not need to sign up for one and you can still pay with a credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover) via PayPal's secure interface.
Downloads & Patterns
All knit/lab patterns are available for direct download from the knit/lab Ravelry Store after purchase.
(Note: You do not need to be a Ravelry member to make a purchase.)
Immediately after you have successfully completed your PayPal payment, an email will be sent to your PayPal email address from downloads@ravelry.com containing a download link for the pattern. Clicking on the download link will take you to the Ravelry download page, from where you can download the pattern. If you are a Ravelry member, the pattern will also be added to your Ravelry library. If you are not a Ravelry member, or if your PayPal email address is not recognised by Ravelry as belonging to a member, you may be asked to input your email address so that Ravelry can locate the purchase.
You should also be automatically redirected from the PayPal Payment Confirmation page to the Ravelry download page. But do not worry if you are not redirected (this occasionally happens), since the download link will already have been emailed to your PayPal email address and, if you are a Ravelry member, the pattern will already have been added to your Ravelry library.
Should you lose the link to the download page or should you have any difficulty downloading the file, please immediately email knit/lab quoting your PayPal Transaction ID and email address and the pattern will be emailed to you.
The patterns are provided in pdf format and can be read and printed with a suitable pdf reader such as Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded for free here or by clicking on the Get Adobe Reader button at the bottom of this page.
Each pattern has a cover page with full color pictures, followed by the pattern itself (including all instructions) on the subsequent page(s). All pages will print at good quality on any desktop printer.
Do you use different email addresses for Ravelry and PayPal?
The email containing a download link for the pattern you have purchased will always be sent to your PayPal email address from downloads@ravelry.com. Please keep this in mind if you use different email addresses for PayPal and Ravelry.
Buy direct from knit/lab
Patterns can also be purchased direct from knit/lab without using Ravelry by following the instructions here. In the case of direct purchases, the patterns will be emailed to you as soon as possible.
Legal & Copyright
All knit/lab patterns are subject to copyright under Irish law, where copyright arises spontaneously on the creation of an original work and there is no registration requirement. All knit/lab patterns are also subject to copyright protection in all other countries worldwide where it is available, including specifically the United States (where no registration or other action in the US Copyright Office is required to secure copyright) and the United Kingdom. In most countries, copyright is secured automatically when an original work is created in a fixed form.
Kieran Foley owns the copyright to all knit/lab patterns.
By purchasing a pattern from knit/lab or downloading a free knit/lab pattern, you are granted a limited license to download the related pdf file, to copy or transfer the pdf file between different electronic devices, and to print a hard copy of each pattern, solely for your personal and non-commercial use. You may not email the pattern or otherwise share it with anyone else. Any other use, including commercial reproduction, modification, using the pattern in any way as the basis for another chart or pattern, distribution, transmission or republication by electronic or any other means without prior written permission from knit/lab, is strictly prohibited and is a violation of copyright and intellectual property rights. You are not permitted to produce items created from these patterns for commercial purposes or for sale, without prior written permission from knit/lab.
knit/lab patterns are only sold through this website or the knit/lab Ravelry Store, and are not available for wholesale, retail or resale by third parties without prior written permission. knit/lab does not offer volume discounts. Details of any special offers are always listed here on the shopping page.
eBooks
Some patterns are also available as eBooks from this website and the knit/lab Ravelry Store. An eBook is a pdf containing multiple patterns and may also include additional material. eBooks are subject to the same terms and conditions of use as standalone patterns.
Some knit/lab patterns are also available in the kCDesign format for use with the knitCompanion app. The kCDesign versions are available from the Create2Thrive Shop and require a prior or simultaneous purchase of the knit/lab pattern pdf.
knit/lab patterns may not be included in yarn kits without prior written permission. Subject to prior written permission, kits may include a link to the pattern page on this website or the knit/lab Ravelry Store, from where the purchaser of the kit can buy the pattern. If you are interested in producing a kit on this basis, please contact knit/lab for permission.
knit/lab patterns may not be used for teaching purposes without prior written permission. Requests for permission for teaching purposes are welcome and will normally be granted, subject to the following conditions: (i) each participant in the class must purchase their own copy of the pattern through this website or from the knit/lab Ravelry Store, and (ii) the promotional material for the class should identify Kieran Foley as the designer and include a link to the pattern page on this website or the knit/lab Ravelry Store.
Any requests to grant alternative licenses are welcome and will be considered, so if you would like to use the patterns for any commercial or other non-personal use, please contact knit/lab.
Cancellations & Refunds: Explicit Consent
The following conditions (apologies for their legalistic nature) are included to ensure that knit/lab is compliant with the EU Consumer Rights Directive:
Right to Cancel
By clicking on the PayPal Pay Now button to complete your knit/lab pattern purchase, you explicitly acknowledge and agree (i) that you will lose your right to cancel the pattern purchase contract after performance of the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium (i.e. the delivery of the pattern pdf which you have purchased) has begun, and (ii) that such performance begins when you click on the pattern download link either on the Ravelry download page or (if you are a Ravelry member) in your Ravelry library.
If you wish to cancel your pattern purchase you must not click on the pattern download link, but should instead inform knit/lab of your decision to cancel the pattern purchase contract by means of an unequivocal statement within 14 days from the date of the pattern purchase. You may (but are not obliged to) use the model cancellation form included for convenience at the end of the pdf version of these Terms and Conditions which can be downloaded here. Or you can submit an alternative unequivocal statement containing similar information and confirming your decision to cancel by email to knitlab@mac.com. If you are a Ravelry member, you must also delete the pattern from your Ravelry library and confirm that you have done so.
For the avoidance of doubt, please note that knit/lab pattern purchases cannot be cancelled after you have clicked on the pattern download link or after they have been sent to you as email attachments.
Refunds/Returns
Patterns purchased from knit/lab which have been downloaded or sent to you as email attachments are non-refundable. knit/lab does not accept returns of patterns which have been downloaded or sent to you as email attachments.
EU VAT
knit/lab pattern prices shown on this website and in the knit/lab Ravelry Store are inclusive of VAT (where applicable). This only applies to cross-border sales to purchasers resident in the EU. In accordance with the EU place of supply rules, VAT is chargeable on eServices at the rate applicable in the EU member state where the purchaser resides.
EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Please visit the privacy page for information on the way knit/lab collects and uses personal data and for information on your rights under the GDPR.
Australian GST
