tigerlily brocade

A beautifully sensuous floral pattern inspired by the warm dappled colorings of tiger lily petals.

Yarns with long color shifts work well with this pattern; the random interplay of gradually changing colors mimics the subtle interplay of gradations in the natural world.

The pattern combines stranded and lace knitting; the lace rows create strong curves and contrasts of density in the bands of stranded knitting.

Knit on 3mm needles with MC Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball sock yarn Charisma 2082 and CC Lang Jawoll Magic Dégradé Superwash shade 59. The pattern works well with a rich dark MC and a bright CC.

Dimensions: approximately 47in/120cm x 12.5in/32cm, flaring out slightly at the ends.

Gauge: approximately 27 stitches and 28 rows = 4 ins/10cm in stranded pattern

Skills required: back & forth stranding, trapping of CC yarn at beginning of rows, and simple lace stitches.

This is a charted pattern with short written instructions.

Tigerlily Brocade is also available as part of the knit/lab Originals volume 1 eBook.
