knit/lab/camino leaves
A dramatic contemporary shawl featuring a unique pattern of large leaf shapes. The leaf shapes are created by dropping selected stitches to create areas of openwork mesh in a background of stocking stitch. The resulting contrast in gauge adds a wavy movement to the bands of color.
The sample above was knit on 3.25mm/US3 needles with Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball Sock yarn, Cranberries colorway.
A full-sized stole or large scarf will require 2 balls, 918yds/840m of yarn.
Approximate finished dimensions with two balls of yarn: 72 x 21ins/180 x 53cm.
The final pattern differs slightly from the sample shown: narrow panels of 1x1 ribbing have been added to make the long side edges more substantial.
I used a 5mm/US8 needle for CO and BO.
This is a charted pattern with short written instructions.
Camino Leaves is also available as part of the knit/lab Originals volume 2 eBook.
