knit/lab/feather & fan crescent
A light and airy crescent designed to make the most of one skein of Ellie and Ada sock yarn.
The traditional feather & fan lace pattern is tailored to gradually increase the stitch count and to create areas of plain knitting between the the tips of the feathers.
The pattern is entirely written out and comes in three sizes - small, medium and large - all three sizes share the feather & fan rows and there is a choice of options for the lower borders depending on yarn quantity.
The lower borders have plain knitting, ribbing and simple lace stitches. The medium and large sizes have options for beading - the pattern includes a phototutorial for adding beads with a crochet hook.
The pdf also includes instructions for adding extra feather & fan rows, if desired.
This is a good project for using up various colors of leftover sock yarn or yarn of similar weight, as the waves of the feather & fan pattern are enhanced by color changes - there's also a phototutorial for splicing yarn ends.
Feather & Fan Crescent is also available as part of the knit/lab Easy Patterns eBook.
